Recent Plane Crash Near Washington, DC - Latest Information
On January 29, 2025, an American Airlines regional jet, Flight 5342, collided mid-air with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport. The collision occurred as the jet was approaching the runway, and both aircraft crashed into the Potomac River. The jet was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, while the helicopter had three soldiers on board.
Emergency response teams, including the Metropolitan Police Department and the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department, were quickly deployed for search and rescue operations. Unfortunately, as of now, no survivors have been found, and 19 bodies have been recovered.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the accident. President Donald Trump and other officials have expressed their condolences and are closely monitoring the situation.
