People's March 2025: A Day of Unity and Action
The People's March is set to take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Washington, D.C. This event, formerly known as the Women's March, has evolved to encompass a broader range of social justice issues, including racial justice, women's rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and climate action.
Event Schedule
- 10:00 AM: Participants will gather at three separate kickoff locations in downtown D.C. These locations include Farragut Square, McPherson Square, and Franklin Park.
- 11:00 AM: The march will commence from these locations, with participants making their way towards the Lincoln Memorial.
- 1:00 PM: A rally and People's Fair will begin at the Lincoln Memorial, featuring inspiring speakers and various activities.
Kickoff Locations and Focus Areas
- Farragut Square: Focuses on democracy, immigration, anti-militarism, and climate issues. Groups like Rising Majority, Popular Democracy, and Democratic Socialists of America will be present.
- McPherson Square: Focuses on critical issues facing D.C. Organizations such as Harriet's Wildest Dreams, Free DC, and Palestinian Youth Movement DC will participate.
- Franklin Park: Focuses on bodily autonomy, gender justice, and LGBTQIA+ issues. Groups like Women’s March, Gender Liberation Movement, and Generation Common Good will be involved.
What to Expect
The People's March promises to be a day of joyful resistance, community building, and powerful action. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers, connect with resources for long-term resistance, and participate in trainings to equip themselves with critical skills for protecting their communities.
Getting There
Participants are encouraged to use the metro for transportation. Volunteers will be posted near metro stations to assist attendees in reaching the correct kickoff locations. The closest metro stops to each kickoff location and the Lincoln Memorial are as follows:
